Barrenness

Sing, O childless woman
you who have never given birth!
Break into loud and joyful song, O Jerusalem,
you who have never been in labor.
For the desolate woman now has more children
than the woman who lives with her husband,
says the Lord.
Enlarge your house; build an addition.
Spread out hour home, and spare no expense!
For you will soon be bursting at the seams.
your descendants will occupy other nations
and resettle the ruined cities.
Isaiah 54:1-3 New Living Translation

This morning as I read this, I didn’t see it as just a childless situation, but for any area of our lives that are barren – Any area where there are deep, unfulfilled desires.

My prayer is for success in the financial area. Lord, we have knocked on many doors, we have been diligent, we have been faithful in tithes and offerings. We have faithfully paid our debts.

Yet many times it seems each step forward is followed by two or three steps backward.

You said to remind You of Your promises. We delight in You, and You have promised to give us our hearts’ desires. Only You can open the windows of heaven. Only You can pour out a blessing that we do not have enough room to receive. Only You can give us the power to get wealth.

Thank You for Your promises. Thank You for Your faithfulness. Thank You that we find favor with You and with mankind.

I cast my care on You, because You care for me…just as You care for the sparrow outside my window.
