BSF Matthew Lesson 3 Day 2

3.  a. Jesus’ life before His public ministry—

  • He grew and became strong.

  • He was wise.

  • The grace of God was on Him.

  • His parents took him to Jerusalem for Passover every year.

  • He was so fascinated with the teachers in the temple courts, he didn’t leave with his parents, but stayed behind—listening and asking questions.

  • The teachers were astounded at his understanding and his answers.

  • Even thought he would have preferred to stay at the temple as Samuel did, he left with his parents in obedience to them.

  • He continued to grow in wisdom and in stature and favor with God and man.

Hebrews 2:10–18

  • He suffered.

  • We are of the same family.

  • We are his brothers and sisters.

  • We are his sons and daughters.

  • He was fully human in every way.

  • He suffered through temptation.

Hebrews 4:15–16  Jesus was tempted in every way just as we are, so he understands our weaknesses.

Hebrews 5:7–9  Jesus cried out to God fervently and with tears.
