8. John the Baptist baptized with water. He did not baptize with the Holy Spirit and fire.
9. Things John said would be true of Jesus…
One who is mightier than I, whose sandals I am unworthy to carry.
He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
His winnowing fan is in His hand; He will thoroughly clean out the threshing floor and gather His wheat into the barn;
He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.
10. I like this question…
Joel 2:28 Via the working of the Holy Spirit, Christians will prophesy, dream dreams, and see visions!
Ezekiel 36:25–27 The Holy Spirit will guide us to be like Jesus.
John 7:37–39 Out of our innermost being will flow rivers of living water. (NASB paraphrase)
Acts 1:5, 8 We will be baptized in/with the Holy Spirit.
Isaiah 44:3 He will pour out His Spirit on our offspring, and His blessing on our descendants.
11. a. (Challenge) John’s baptism in water was a baptism of repentance. Christian baptism in water represented repentance in the name of Jesus Christ for forgiveness of sin. Believers could then be baptized in the Holy Spirit.
b. I am SO grateful for the free gift of the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. I am SO thankful that He will never leave me nor forsake me. I am SO grateful for the dreams and visions, the prophecy, the counsel, the wisdom, the rivers of living water, and the promise that He will also pour out His Spirit and blessing on my offspring and descendants! Hallelujah!
