Update: In August 2008, John was featured on CBN’s 700 Club. A link to his guest bio is posted on CBN’s website.
How we overcome:
3 Who may ascend the hill of the LORD ?
Who may stand in his holy place?
4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who does not lift up his soul to an idol
or swear by what is false.
5 He will receive blessing from the LORD
and vindication from God his Savior. Psalm 24:3-5 (NIV)
Are our motives pure?
What do we want to receive?
Why do we want it?
If we want financial blessing, do we want to bless others?
They overcame him
by the blood of the Lamb
and by the word of their testimony;
they did not love their lives so much
as to shrink from death. Revelation 12:11
1. Blood of the Lamb – Jesus shed so much blood for us.
Many bulls have surrounded me. Stong bulls of Bashan have encircled Me. They gape at Me with their mouths, Like a raging and roaring lion. I am poured out like water, and all My bones are out of joint; My heart is like wax; It has melted within Me. My strength is dried2-15 up like a potsherd, and My tongue clings to My jaws; You have brought Me to the dust of death. Ps 24:1
2. Word of your testimony – testifying recreates the atmosphere of that event – testimony of Jesus is prophecy – think of all of your words as being prophecy – what are you prophesying over your life? Saul, as imperfect as his life was, walked into an atmosphere of prophecy and began to prophesy. (see I Samuel 10:9-11) Create that type of atmosphere by speaking of God’s faithfulness in the past.
3. Don’t love your life unto death – they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death. (NIV) Will we say the words He puts in our mouths without fear for our life or reputation? Will we give away our car or our house if He tells us to?
Don’t pray for victory…pray from victory!
