John Lesson 10 Day 4 ~ John 6:51-59
8- The blood of the Passover lamb saved their lives.
When I see the blood, I will pass over you. This plague of death will not touch you. (Verse 13 NLT)
Because God the Father sees the blood of Jesus on those of us who have made Him our Lord (Romans 10:9), His judgment passes over us. The Israelites didn’t experience a lesser amount of death when the death angel passed over; they experienced no death. Likewise, we experience no wrath from God once we accept Jesus as our Savior. 9- The Israelites ate roasted lamb’s flesh for dinner.
They roasted the lamb whole (no broken bones) and ate the entire roasted lamb.
Jesus gave His all. None of His bones were broken.
They ate the meat with unleavened bread.
Jesus is the sinless, uncorrupted bread of life that came down from heaven.
They ate the meal quickly, fully dressed and ready to travel.
Christ will raise us up at the last day.
“When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.” John 14:3 NLT
The Israelites were set free from bondage when Pharoah ordered them to leave.
Belief in Jesus sets us free from the bondage of sin and death. (Galatians 5:1)
10- Eat my flesh and drink my blood
Has anyone heard this passage in John read during the observance of communion? Jesus offended people when He said it. They thought He was talking about cannibalism.
Anyone who drinks His blood has eternal life.
Anyone who eats the living bread from heaven will live forever.
Christ will raise that person at the last day.
Anyone who eats His flesh and drinks His blood remains in Him and He in them.
Anyone who feeds on this bread will live forever.
“For in him we live and move and exist. As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’” Acts 17:28 NLT
In John 6:53-58, Jesus said we have to eat His flesh and drink His blood, or else we have no life in us. Notice that the blood could only be applied to the doorposts of a house where the people had eaten the lamb. Likewise, we can only be covered by the blood of the Lamb if we have first partaken of Him. Andrew Wommack
