John Lesson 21 Day 4
My Answers to BSF Bible Study Questions
If you are wondering if your faith is authentic, take a look at your life. Are you doing what is right? (Voice)
9. 1 John 3:1–3 Encouragement & Promises
God calls us His beloved children, and that’s what we are!
And that’s only the beginning. Who knows how we’ll end up! We only know that when we see Him, we will become like Him.
We only know that when we see Him, we will become like Him as He really is.
“…all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure.” (NLT)
1 John 3:4-10 (Voice)
When we feel like we are not good enough to be loved by God, we should remember that God’s love is greater than our doubts. We must silence the sounds of condemnation so we can hear the voice of God’s loving assurance and remember that He has selected us to be part of His family.
Anyone who lives in an intimate relationship with Him does not persist in sin.
…the Son of God came into our world to destroy the plague of destruction inflicted on the world by the diabolical one.
Everyone who has been born into God’s family avoids sin as a lifestyle because the genes of God’s children come from God Himself.
…those who lack right standing and those who don’t show love for one another do not belong to God.
10. 1 John 3:11-24 The central truth—love one another.
Genuine love flows from our choice to do what is right instead of a life devoted to evil and selfishness.
“The indicator of real life: true love for others.” (Voice)
Note on 1 John 3:11 “…it’s not just actions but the attitudes of the heart expressing themselves in actions that is the real test. The acid test is love expressed through actions. That’s what this verse is speaking of.”
Proverbs 23:7 (AMP)
For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.
11. Testing spirits—Spirits only exert their influence through people.
1 John 4:2 (AMP)
By this you may know (perceive and recognize) the Spirit of God: every spirit which acknowledges and confesses [the fact] that Jesus Christ (the Messiah) [actually] has become man and has come in the flesh is of God [has God for its source];
John is saying,
anyone who didn’t acknowledge the physical reality of Jesus was not speaking by God’s Spirit. Jesus became a man, died, was buried, and rose again with a glorified body. This has to be a central truth for anyone who is a true prophet of God.
I don’t believe this is the only criterion for discerning true prophets. This was peculiar to John’s day, and there are heresies that are peculiar to our day. But this is one nonnegotiable truth that has to be part of any test of a true prophet. Andrew Wommack’s Living Commentary.
1 John 4:3 (AMP)
And every spirit which does not acknowledge and confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh [but would annul, destroy, sever, disunite Him] is not of God [does not proceed from Him]. This [nonconfession] is the [spirit] of the antichrist, [of] which you heard that it was coming, and now it is already in the world.
Any person who believes Jesus was not a flesh and blood human being is not speaking by the Spirit of God.
Here’s how you test for the genuine Spirit of God. Everyone who confesses openly his faith in Jesus Christ—the Son of God, who came as an actual flesh-and-blood person—comes from God and belongs to God. And everyone who refuses to confess faith in Jesus has nothing in common with God. This is the spirit of antichrist that you heard was coming. Well, here it is, sooner than we thought! 1 John 4:2-3 (MSG)
