6. a. The three angels
First of the three angels made a proclamation while soaring in middle heaven:
He preached an eternal message in a loud voice,
“Fear God and give him glory! His hour of judgment has come! Worship the Maker of Heaven and earth, salt sea and fresh water! MSG
Second of the three angels followed and called out:
Ruined, ruined, Great Babylon ruined! She made all the nations drunk on the wine of her whoring! MSG
Third of three angel’s shouted a warning:
If anyone worships the Beast and its image and takes the mark on forehead or hand that person will drink the wine of God’s wrath, prepared unmixed in his chalice of anger, and suffer torment from fire and brimstone in the presence of Holy Angels, in the presence of the Lamb. Smoke from their torment will rise age after age. No respite for those who worship the Beast and its image, who take the mark of its name. MSG
b. The three angels preached their messages to —
All who remained on earth, every nation and tribe, every tongue and people. MSG
7. The Eternal Gospel
Acts 26:17b-18 Jesus sent Paul —
to open the eyes of the Gentiles (outsiders), so they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a place among God’s people, who are set apart by faith in me. NLT
It is by faith in this ‘almost too good to be true news’* that we are saved [reborn from above spiritually transformed, renewed, and set apart for His purpose (AMP)].
The basics —
Christ died for our sins in fulfillment of prophecy,
He was buried,
He was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said He would.
8. What did Jesus, Paul, and Peter say about sharing the gospel?
Make disciples of all nations
Here’s what that looks like —
Train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you.
When you enter a town and are received, eat what they set before you, heal anyone who is sick, and tell them ‘God’s kingdom is right on your doorstep!’
I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day, after day, right up to the end of the age. MSG
But you will receive power (to be my witnesses) when the Holy Spirit comes on you. Acts 1:8
I shouldn’t preach about myself, other than testifying of God’s goodness in my life.
I should proclaim Jesus Christ, the Master.
We are all messengers of Jesus to others.
He sent us to share the light he has shone in our hearts.
I am one of those chosen by God.
Chosen for the high calling of priestly work,
Chosen to be holy,
So I can show others the goodness of God.
Tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for me—from nothing to something,
From rejected to accepted. MSG
I still feel like a nothing. I need to meditate on who I am in Christ.
My mission field
I “go” (virtually) all over the world by sharing my study and journey through this website. Mind boggling. Makes me want to go hide if I think about it. What could Jesus, Paul, and the Apostles have done with social media, instantly shareable video, recordings, etc.? Oh wait, look what they did without it! They changed the world!
I share the good news with my family and others I bump into. Although I’m very much an introvert, I’m growing bolder. It didn’t happen because I made a conscious effort either.
Other than my sons, I’ve only led two people to the Lord that I remember. One was a friend in fourth grade, and another was John Michael.
In the fourth grade, I didn’t know what discipleship was. I don’t know how to get in touch with John.
I hope I’ve discipled through the youth, music, home group and other ministries over the years.
My view (and hope) is we don’t always know whose lives we’ve touched. I hope I’ve done more good than bad for the Kingdom.
So I’m reminding myself to smile, be considerate, encourage, and pray for others.
If we are part of a larger ministry, we share in their reward, they say. Again, we hope it’s sowing good seed and our hearts are in it for the right reason.
Sometimes the Holy Spirit urges me to speak to someone by giving me the first sentence to get me started. I go for it before I have time to wonder if it makes sense and before I get nervous. I want to see that happen more.
The Holy Spirit sometimes prompts me to send someone an email, card, note or text message.
We all have different gifts and personalities. I’ve been to several soul-winning classes over the years. Scripts don’t feel right to me. I don’t like being on the other end of one.
In the examples of Jesus’ ministry, He approached each person and group differently. The Father showed Him information about their lives and needs.
That gift of the Spirit is available to us, too. I want that to work in my life. Imagine how loved someone feels when we share the source of our knowledge – a God who loves them and sees what they need.
I’ve rambled enough. I would love to hear your thoughts on any of these questions.
