Revelation Lesson 23 Day 5 Hope

Revelation 18:21-24

11. A powerful angel proclaimed

You will see no signs of everyday life in the great city of Babylon.

No burning lamps.

No commerce.

No manufacturing.

No weddings.

No musicians.

No grinding of flour.

The reason for judgment

Because they deceived and misled so many with their sorcery.

And because the blood of prophets (those who spoke the truth) and saints (those who believed and followed the truth) is the only thing left.

12. a.  Hope for the people of God

Before judgment destroyed Babylon, the angel said, “come out.” Those who obeyed the warning will be (or were) avoided her calamity.

God’s people also have His promises His people eternal life with Him in the place He prepared.

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. ESV

John 10:28-29

I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. ESV

John 14:1-3

Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. ESV

John 15:19

If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. ESV

b. Hope for the longer term seems easier.

I live in challenging circumstances. It’s easy to get discouraged.
This is a good opportunity to look for promises.

(I will) Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Rom 12:12 ESV

(I) wait [expectantly] for the LordHe is (my) help and (my) shield. Ps 33:20 AMP

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us  Eph 3:20 ESV

13. Sharing

I did my best to teach my children the way they should go [teaching them to seek God’s wisdom and will for their abilities and talents] God’s word promises when they are old they will not depart from it. Prov 22:6 AMP

I prayed then and now that God will send more laborers to speak into their lives in ways they still need to hear.

I also pray my life will be an example of godliness.

I do my best to teach my grandchildren also. I find it tough. Children are so bombarded by worldliness at an earlier age.
Several women in my group shared results that encouraged me and gave me ideas to continue.
