Revelation Lesson 23 Day 2
3. a. John saw another angel coming down from heaven.
The angel possessed great authority.
The earth was illuminated by his glory.
The angel cried out with a mighty voice.
b. The angel proclaimed the fall of Babylon.
Babylon is fallen—that great city is fallen!
She has become a home for demons.
She is a hideout for every foul spirit,
a hideout for every foul vulture
and every foul and dreadful animal.
For all the nations have fallen
because of the wine of her passionate immorality.
The kings of the world
have committed adultery with her.
Because of her desires for extravagant luxury,
the merchants of the world have grown rich. NLT
4. a. Making earthly riches our first priority opens the door to evil.
We are tempted to trust in riches and our ability to create wealth.
We are tempted to become proud.
It chokes the good seed the Word plants in our hearts.
b. It is impossible to serve both God and riches. Matt 6:24
…if your wealth increases, don’t make it the center of your life. Ps 61:10b NLT
When you set your eyes on wealth, it is [suddenly] gone. For wealth certainly makes itself wings like an eagle that flies to the heavens. Prov 23:5 AMP
But the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it proves unfruitful. Mark 4:19 ESV
Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. Colossians 3:1-2 NLT
I’ve noticed that answering the study questions causes me to meditate on the Word of God and the things of heaven more often throughout the day. (It takes me at least 25 hours per week to write, edit, and format these posts.)
