Revelation Lesson 29 DAY 3 Revelation 22:12-16
6. Lord Jesus Christ is coming soon.
The Alpha and the Omega
The First and the Last
The Beginning and the End
The Root (the Source, the Life)
The Offspring of David
The Radiant and Bright Morning Star
My favorite description
I like the visual of Jesus as the radiant and bright Morning Star. It is a picture of beauty and eternal hope. He is new every morning. Lamentations 3:22-23 AMP
It is because of the Lord’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed,
Because His [tender] compassion never fails.
They are new every morning;
Great and beyond measure is Your faithfulness.
The Root and Source of Life is a close second. Because He is the Source of Life, He is well able to heal, restore, and make all things new.
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT
And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!” And then he said to me, “Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true.” Revelation 21:5 NLT
7. A. The contrast—Revelation 22:14-15
Blessed versus cursed
Clean robes washed in the blood of the Lamb versus unwashed and filthy
Believers in Christ versus sorcerers, sexually immoral, murderers, idol worshipers—all who love and live a lie.
Righteous versus godless, impure
Inside the New Jerusalem in the presence of God versus outside the gate
Access to the Tree of Life forever versus banished forever
B. His reward is with Him.
Reward means wages or payment whether for good or for bad.
The more imminent meaning of this verse was fulfilled with the judgment of Jerusalem in 70 AD.
It also reminds me of the parable of the wise and foolish virgins. (Matthew 25:1-13)
I pray that I will always be ready—My lamp shining brightly wherever I am—Continually filled to overflowing with the Holy Spirit.
I pray that garden of my soul will be well-tended, bearing fruit in season and out of season. (2 Timothy 4:2)
I pray that I hear and quickly obey every word that comes from His mouth. (Matt 4:4)
I look forward to the day I hear, “well done, good and faithful servant”. (Matt 25:23)
