“Not only has the reconciled man confidence that he shall escape God’s wrath, but triumphant confidence – joyful hope in God.” (Wuest, quoting Alford via Guzik)

10. Salvation — Whole

Greek sōzō — to save, i.e. deliver or protect (literal or figurative) heal, preserve, save (self), do well, be (make) whole. Strong’s

  • The blood of Jesus has made us right with God. (Voice)
  • Rescued from God’s future wrath.
  • Daily delivered from sin’s dominion (AMPC)

“What matters is what we have through Jesus. What we have through our own works doesn’t matter and can’t help us. It’s all through Jesus.” (Guzik)

11. a. Reconciliation — Atonement

. . . it means “exchange (figuratively, adjustment), i.e. restoration to (the divine) favor” (Strong’s Concordance). Christianity is the great exchange. We exchanged our sin for His righteousness (Romans 5:19 and 2 Corinthians 5:21). We exchanged our sickness for His health (1 Peter 2:24). We exchanged our sorrow for His joy (Isaiah 61:3). It’s already done. We have received it already. Thank You, Jesus.
Andrew Wommack’s Living Commentary.

b. We were reconciled to God through the death of His Son (Romans 5:10 NIV)

God’s part

  • Reconciled us to Himself through the sacrifice of His Son.
  • Came up with the plan.
  • Executed the plan.
  • Jesus suffered and died an excruciating, humiliating death.
  • Offered us the plan.
  • Reconciles us to Himself through Jesus.

Our part —> Faith.

12. We stand now reconciled and at peace with God. (Romans 5:11 Voice)

Jesus’ death paid our debt and reconciled us to God. His resurrection gave us His supernatural power to reign in life (Galatians 1:4). Andrew Wommack’s Living Commentary.

I rejoiced with the following song:

We Rejoice in the Grace of God by Steve Cook and Vikki Cook

We rejoice in the grace of God
Poured upon our lives
Loving-kindness has come to us
Because of Jesus Christ
We rejoice in the grace of God
Our hearts overflow
What a joy to know the grace of God

Romans 4:25; 6:8-10; 8:34

Your gift of any amount to help cover the expenses to host and maintain this website is greatly appreciated. Over 25 hours per week goes into the study, research, writing, editing, and formatting of each four-part lesson. Due to the size of the database and the ever-increasing number of visitors, I need to upgrade the site’s hosting plan to minimize downtime. Last year, the site was down 15 to 30 minutes at least twice a day. Recently, it was down for about 12 hours.
