Romans Lesson 9 Day 5
My answers to BSF study questions
10. a. “The law came along to multiply the trespass.” (Romans 5:20a HCSB)
Mankind had already been led into sin by Adam. The Law came in to make matters still worse. It substituted conscious sin for unconscious, and so heightened its guilt. But all this is more than retrieved by grace. (Elliotts Commentary)
Sinful passions are aroused by the Law. (Romans 7:5, 8 Bible.og)
. . .so we would recognize how terrible our sin was; we would quit trying to be right with God through our own goodness. (Andrew Wommack’s Living Commentary)
“But where sin increased and abounded, grace (God’s unmerited favor) has surpassed it and increased the more and super-abounded.” (Romans 5:20b AMPC)
b. Paul refers to the inclination or tendency to sin.
The law sparked creativity Humanity’s natural inclination and tendency Knowledge of the boundaries presented in the law sparked creativity. With all the ways to broadcast deviant, sinful acts, people try to outdo each other. Many exploit the opportunity by marketing pornography, planting more perverse seeds that sprout and multiply.
Sin has gone mainstream and primetime. It’s no longer hidden but paraded in the streets and shared on social media.
11. Pastor Kris Vallotton shares this amazing testimony of God’s miraculous restoration—
Some things that are too good to be true are TRUE! We OFTEN get testimonies from women sharing that God restored their virginity including restoring their hymen! I have heard 100s of these testimonies!!! There is a true story in the last chapter of my book entitled Moral Revolution that is the first verified miracle I ever heard concerning the physical restoration of a woman. Hard to believe? Maybe…but TRUE! NOT A THING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD!
Many believe that God forgives them for the things they have done wrong in their life. But some struggle with the FACT that God has the power to make ALL things new! Whether you were the victim or the violator, God will forgive and restore you if you ask Him to. He ROCKS!
12. Kingdom of darkness and Kingdom of God’s Son
He has rescued us completely from the tyrannical rule (or authority) of darkness and has translated us into the kingdom realm of his beloved Son. For in the Son all our sins are canceled and we have the release of redemption through his very blood. (Colossians 1:13-14 TPT)
Kingdom of darkness
Those in the kingdom of darkness live apart from God.
Kingdom of God’s son
But you are God’s chosen treasure—priests who are kings, a spiritual “nation” set apart as God’s devoted ones. He called you out of darkness to experience his marvelous light, and now he claims you as his very own. He did this so that you would broadcast his glorious wonders throughout the world.
For at one time you knew nothing of God’s mercy, because you hadn’t received it yet, but now you are drenched with it! (1 Peter 2:9-10 TPT)
